Lebron James Monster Block on Ramon Sessions!

They say to be an all-around great player you have to make sure you’re not only the best offensive player on the floor at all times, but most importantly the best defensive player. Lebron James has taken that step this season, as he is more and more frequently being noticed as a stand out defender. He’s racking up the steals and blocks, and almost nightly has some sort of highlight reel block.
Last night was no exception, as Lebron had one of the nastiest blocks i’ve ever seen! As much as I feel for Ramon Sessions for being the victim of the monstrous block that is sure to be viewed thousands of times via YouTube fame, no matter how many times I watch it, it always gets me out of my seat. Look at Lebron’s head and shoulders in relation to the rim and backboard. He must have jumped off a trampoline right?…..wow!
Video: Dwyane Wade’s Vicious Dunk on the Phoenix Suns Last Night!

November 29, 2008 – Dr. Dime
The Miami Heat destroyed the Phoenix Suns last night, the final score may not have looked as bad as it really was but it was all on Dwyane Wade. He was an absolute beast, making my MVP race decisions that much more difficult! Wade put up a big 43 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Not bad huh?
Once again Phoenix proved to be inept at getting Shaquille O’Neal the ball in the post. Shaq again shot a really high percentage from the field but was limited to only 8 shot attempts for the entire game. For a team that complains the offense is centered too much around Shaq in the post, they certainly don’t seem to be doing much of actually getting Shaq the ball in the post!
Either way, If you missed the game check out this baseline drive by Wade with a spectacular finish. He is leaning away from the rim to create space between the ball and his defender and still manages to throw down a pretty nasty dunk:
Video Interview: Stephon Marbury Calls Mike D’Antoni A Liar!

November 29, 2008 – Dr. Dime
How many times can a person cry “wolf”? The first time I heard Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks say his coach (Isiah Thomas) was untrustworthy I pretty much believed what he was saying as I had no reason to think otherwise. The second time I figured it was more of the same. Third time I got suspicious of what he was saying.
Now with a new coach, and a very well-respected one league-wide, i’m tending to side with D’Antoni. It’s time for Marbury to just man-up and stop shifting the blame to others. In the following video interview with Marbury about his recent suspension for refusing to play when the Knicks were shorthanded the other night, he accuses Mike D’Antoni of lying and says that he never refused to play. In fact he says he was never even asked to play!
C’mon Stephon, who do you think you are fooling here? We know you love the media attention since you haven’t gotten any of it for your on-court play in years, but it’s time for you to step aside. Do you really want your legacy in the NBA to be focused ‘he said, she said’ stuff related to your mounting number of DNP-CD?
I’ll give Stephon Marbury credit for one thing however concerning his legacy….he may be inventing a new basketball statistical category. At this rate the new category may be called DNP-PD (player’s decision).
The Complete Trailer for Basketball is a Brotherhood is Here!

November 28, 2008 – Dr. Browntorious
Hey, hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving holidays and time with family and friends. I thought this specific holiday was a fitting theme of family/brotherhood to show you guys the complete trailer or compilation of the videos from the Basketball is a Brotherhood campaign by adidas that we gave you guys advanced access too for the last month or so. For those of you who don’t remember, you can check out the Gilbert Arenas, Dwight Howard, Tracy McGrady, and Kevin Garnett videos we previously posted.
We have heard from some of you about what ‘Basketball is a Brotherhood’ means to you, or what you interpret it to mean. If you guys have any examples or stories of where or how basketball has opened doors for you, made you new friends, kept you out of trouble, or even just given you something fun to do to pass the time, feel free to share them with our other readers in the comments section below. Each of The Hoop Doctors (Anklesnap, J-Water, Browntorious, and Dime) have all been positively affected by having the game of hoops in our lives, and who knows where we would have ended up if we hadn’t been playing hoops 24/7 when we were growin’ up. That’s why we love to rep this Basketball is a Brotherhood campaign because it symbolizes our gratitude to the game. The Hoop Doctors look at ourselves as a prime example of ‘Basketball is a Brotherhood’ because that’s how we met, became such close friends, and decided to start this website to talk hoops with all of y’all. We met on the playgrounds, and to this day we try to get together whenever possible to shoot hoops or talk hoops.
So please, drop us a note and let us know your thoughts or love for the game!

Video: Roko Who? Raptors Croatian Rookie Showing Some Razzle Dazzle!

November 27 – Dr. Anklesnap
Unless you are a die hard Toronto Raptors fan you probably have never heard of the rookie point guard “Roko Ukic.” Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo and his staff are well on their way to being known league wide as the executive scouting team who find diamonds in the rough internationally. While the management of many NBA teams heavily scout internationally, specifically Europe these days, most teams don’t pull the trigger as quickly or as frequently on draftees from Europe as the Raptors.
And for good reason, there are risks involved. If you draft a player from Europe he won’t necessarily come to play in the NBA right away….or EVER for that matter. Croatian born, Roko Ukic is the perfect example of this as he was originally drafted to the NBA by the Toronto Raptors back in 2005 out of Croatia. For fear he wouldn’t see much playing time and develop properly, Ukic decided to stay in Europe to play in the Spanish League. He changed teams three times since 2005 before finally signing a 3-year contract this summer with the Toronto Raptors.
Technically this is his first year in the NBA so he is considered to be a rookie. However he is a fairly experienced rookie with plenty of professional experience overseas. He has started this season a bit slow due to the fact he was playing behind point guards Jose Calderon and Will Solomon. Roko has seen his playing time increase the last couple games due to the slight hamstring strain of Jose Calderon and poor play out of backup Solomon. Personally, i’ve been fairly impressed with the play of Roko Ukic thus far. He has long arms and a great wingspan for his size, great foot speed, excellent court vision and already is showing he can bring a bit of flair and energy off the bench. He may not have put a huge stamp on the box scores as of yet, but as those that have been watching will know he’s certainly made his mark on the past couple of games for the Raps.
This video sequence is an example from last night’s game between the Toronto Raptors and the Charlotte Bobcats of the type of energy Roko Ukic has been bringing off the bench the last couple of games.

Video: Lebron “The Knicks Killer” James Highlights at Madison Square Garden

November 26, 2008 – Dr. J-Water
There has been a ridiculous amount of hype lately about whether or not Lebron James will go to the New York Knicks in 2010 when his contract is up in Cleveland. So much so that a lot of fans and bloggers have gotten sick of the talk. To give you a specific example, I had to laugh at J.E. Skeets post on Ball Don’t Lie yesterday making light of the situation.
Going in to last night’s game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden, I was praying praying praying that the Knicks would keep it close so the game announcers would have to stay focused on the in-game action and not belabor the issue further. NO SUCH LUCK! Not to take anything away from the Cavs great performance, but Mike D’Antoni’s team really tanked huge on this one. And unfortunately the announcers spent 99.9% of the game discussing the same old points over and over again about whether or not Lebron would go to the Knicks in 2010.
“It’s not about money”, “He wants to win a championship”, “Can the Knicks clear enough cap space?”, “Can the Knicks sign Wade and Amare to entice Lebron?”, blah blah blah blah. Enough already!!!
So on that note i’d like to bring it back to “Tha Real” and what the true fan cares about….the on-court action. Since it was Lebron in the Garden, today’s video is focused on Lebron’s main highlights from the game. There would have been many more highlights, but given the fact that the Cavaliers were up by 20-30 points most of the game, Lebron was either a spectator on the sideline or trying to get his teammates involved as much as possible. Either way, you can always count on ‘Bron for some highlight reel plays….
Video: Fan Screams “I hate you Reggie Evans”!

November 25, 2008 – Dr. Dime
Charlotte Bobcats fans have a lot to be angry about these days. Last night’s win against the Philadelphia 76ers not withstanding, they have started the season once again in terrible form. With a 4-9 start they find themselves in second last place in the Eastern Conference.
Given how much the 76ers were hyped up after the Elton Brand signing this summer, i’ve been very disappointed thus far in their performances as they are sitting at just a 7-7 record. I must have been crazy last night for plunking myself down in front of the TV to watch a completely uninspired Sixers squad get banged around by the uninspired Larry Brown show. Not surprisingly there were very few highlights in the game. So little in fact, that I found the following audio clip very entertaining.
Reggie Evans has always been hated in arena’s league wide with the exception of his home court. Mainly because his brand of basketball is very physical and in your face. He defends hard, rebounds hard, and all around play’s the game HARD. So understandably he’s one of those guys that opponents and opposition fans LOVE to HATE.
Turn up your speakers and listen carefully to the fan scream to Reggie at about the :06 or :07 second mark.
Now if only the Bobcats could show the same type of enthusiasm and energy as their fans do???
