The Grizzlies can’t catch a break. They finally get back a healthy Rudy Gay and now Zach Randolph goes down. This team is going to be dangerous whenever they can get everyone healthy for an extended time.
Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph will miss up to eight weeks after magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed that he suffered a slight tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, sources with knowledge of the situation told The Commercial Appeal.
The injury will not require surgery and doctors will re-evaluate Randolph in two weeks.
Randolph was believed to only have a bruised MCL. He did not travel with the team for its road game tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He remained in Memphis and is wearing a knee brace.
Randolph suffered the injury after teammate O.J. Mayo inadvertently fell into his legs during the Grizzlies’ 40-point loss Sunday at Chicago. Randolph left the game with a minute left in the first quarter and he didn’t return.
