Anthony Davis to Miss 2 to 4 Weeks

The New Orleans Pelicans just can’t catch a break in the injury department. After multiple players have dealt with injuries over the course of the season, their leading man, Anthony Davis, can now be added to the injury list.

According to Rich Paul, Anthony Davis’ agent, Davis plans to see a hand specialist because he thinks he may have a volar plate avulsion fracture in his left index finger.

If a fracture is confirmed, Davis would likely miss two-to-four weeks of instead of the expected one-to-two weeks the New Orleans Pelicans originally announced.

Davis was injured while swiping at the ball on defense late in the Pelicans’ 128-112 loss to the Blazers on Friday. Staying healthy has been a challenge for him. He’s only played more than 68 regular-season games twice in his NBA career.

His current injury comes at a bad time for the Pelicans who are currently in the 12th spot in an extremely competitive Western Conference. Davis is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.6 blocks per game. The Pelicans are just 2-4 this season without Davis in the lineup, so obviously they’ll want him back as soon as possible.
