It appears Paul Millsap will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
According to ESPN sources, Millsap has informed the Atlanta Hawks he’s opting out of the $21.4-million player option on his deal.
This comes as no surprise as most expected the 32 year old to opt out of his final year in order to seek a max deal on the open market. The Hawks have expressed optimism in retaining him and the all-star did mention earlier this month that he would like to stay with the team whose Bird Rights allow them to offer him a five-year deal worth about $205 million.
Throughout his 4 years in Atlanta, he averaged 17.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.2 blocks.
