Isaiah Thomas’ story is truly an inspiration for underdogs. After being taken last overall in the same draft that Kyrie Irving was taken first overall, Thomas has emerged as on the league’s best point guards and leading scorers. He’s the main reason Boston is set up so nicely for the future. He’s impossible to guard and has ice in his veins in the fourth quarter this year.
He’ll no doubt be an all-star and has become a household name. He’s also very confident. If you let him tell it, he’s the best basketball player walking planet Earth. In his defense, most players feel this way. But it’s one thing to feel that way and another thing entirely to say that out loud into a microphone.
“Not to be cocky, but I feel like I’m the best player in the world,” Thomas says. “That’s just the work I put in, and if you don’t feel like that, then you’re cheating yourself.”
