Knicks Haven’t Ruled Out Extension for Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose seems happy to be playing in the Big Apple and to have a fresh start after a frustrating and disappointing last four seasons as a Bull. He had his best game as a Knick and maybe his best game in year’s on Monday when the Knicks loss to the Oklahoma City Russells, excuse me I mean Thunder.

Reports have surfaced Tuesday morning that the Knicks are not ruling out giving Rose an extension after his contract expires this season.

The Knicks haven’t approached Rose as of yet and could lock him up with a three-year, $75 million extension before the upcoming off-season, but it appears that they want to see Rose perform at a high level and stay healthy throughout the 2016-17 campaign in order to feel comfortable extending his contract.

Rose is averaging 16.8 points, 4.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 32.6 minutes per game while shooting 43.8% from the field with a player efficiency rating of 16.2.

It is clear, and has been for years, that Rose is a middling starting point guard at best at this point in his career. He will need to continue having performances like last night in order to justify signing any big money long-term deal with the Knicks or any other franchise this off-season.
