Is there anything a 38-year-old Dirk Nowitzki can teach a 21-year-old Kirstaps Porzingis?
We may soon find out.
Following the New York Knicks’ victory over the slumping Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, Nowitzki divulged that he and Porzingis have contact outside of basketball, and that there’s a chance, at least to him, the two will work out together over the offseason, per Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com:
Dirk says he gave Porzingis his number last season but was in Europe when KP finally texted him. Dirk is willing to work with KP next summer

I mean, hell yeah.
Nowitzki won’t be able to teach Porzingis anything on defense; the 7’3″ Latvian beanpole already has him beat there. But Dirk’s offensive arsenal is the most expansive we have ever seen from someone his size. He was not only a great shooter off the catch in his heyday, but a solid ball-handler and post-up scorer.
Porzingis is coming along in pretty much every department on his own. He is shooting a higher clip from beyond the arc, looks far more comfortable taking peeps off the dribble and is flashing a more refined post game.
Imagine what he could do, though, after spending a summer working out with Dirk freaking Nowitzki.
Did anyone else just get chills?
