Chris Bosh Still Determined to Make an NBA Return

Chris Bosh is refusing to let his latest failed physical with the Miami Heat end his NBA career.

In a video for his Uninterrupted series, “Rebuilt,” Bosh remained steadfast in his desire to return to the hardwood. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald provided a pertinent transcript:

“We’re going to go everywhere. We’re going to do everything that it takes to get back out there,” Bosh, 32, said in the final chapter of the “Rebuild” series on the Uninterrupted digital network, an offering titled, “Dreams.”

“And if people can’t understand that, you don’t understand being a winner. People sometimes tell you that dreams are impossible. It’s either you follow your dreams and continue to go, or you do not — I just choose to follow my dreams.”

This isn’t by any means a surprising revelation. Bosh wanted to return to the court last season, and he never once appeared to be at peace whenever the Heat were forced, or decided to, prolong his absence. Now that Miami has distanced itself from his future, it’s to be expected that he’ll turn over every rock, search in every nook and cranny, for an opportunity to play elsewhere.

Whether or not that opportunity exists is a different story.

No team is about to absorb the three years and $75.8 million that remains on Bosh’s deal. Even if such a suitor existed, the Heat won’t want to pull the trigger on a trade that adds long-term salary from their ledger—not when they are possibly positioned to have Bosh’s contract expunged during the middle of this year.

That means Bosh will, most likely, need to bide his time before making any sort of return. His career may not be over, even if he’s played his last game for the Heat, but given the unique situation in which he finds himself, it’s unlikely he suits up for any NBA squad anytime soon.
