Carmelo Anthony potentially threw some shade at his former teammate Jeremy Lin and his cross town rivals in Brooklyn on Friday.

Here is the specific quote Melo gave to New York Post Reporter Marc Berman leading up to the the Knicks preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets:
“He is the face of their franchise – believe it or not,’’ Anthony said after Friday’s practice. “He came up, they paid him. Now the ball is in his hands. Now he’s one of the franchise players over there. I don’t know what you want me to say about that. I’m happy for him, excited for him to see how it’s going to turn out over there.’’
These comments are all the more interesting when you consider reports that behind closed doors Melo wasn’t too happy with Lin stealing the New York shine and headlines from him during the Linsanity daze of the 2011-12 NBA season.
Melo is right, Lin sort of is the face of the Nets franchise this season (or Brook Lopez) and that is a very very bad thing for the Nets, but he may want to take a look in the mirror and consider how successful the Knicks have been with himself as the face of the franchise.
