With his ability to spread the floor with his outside shot, Steph Curry can wreak havoc on any court, regardless of the rules and style of play. That goes for international ball in the Olympics. If he were to play for Team USA in August in Rio, he’d likely put on a show. But it may be a show that we won’t see. He had reportedly been on the fence before, but he it is now being reported that he’ll skip the Rio Olympic games.
If this ends up being the case, it’s certainly understandable. Because they were chasing 73 wins, the Warriors really didn’t have any stretches during the regular season where they were just able to coast. Also, he suffered a somewhat serious knee injury in the first round. He’s probably looking for an opportunity to rest and heal up.
According to multiple sources, Curry has already told USA Basketball he will not be playing for a gold medal. He will instead let his right knee heal.
This is good news for the Warriors, who usually like their players in these high-profile opportunities because it helps the overall brand. It’s a smart move by Curry, who is piling on the mileage…
