Game, as the kids say, recognize game.
Which is why, during a Twitter Q&A, Damian Lillard named Anthony Davis as the player not currently on his team whom he would most like to team up with (h/t ESPN.com’s Justin Verrier):

Easy does it, conspiracy theorists. Lillard has no plans to leave Portland:

This is how you talk about teaming up with a player outside your organization. You drop his name, as a sign of respect, then pledge allegiance to your organization. Props to Lillard for being real, without being real ignorant.
But, for what it’s worth, Lillard must really want to play with Davis. The question didn’t chain him to only active players. And yet he still rolled with Brow.
For those wondering (all of you), it will be quite some time before Lillard can officially recruit Davis to play in Portland. Both stars will begin their five year extensions next season, so the soonest they can reach free agency is 2020, assuming they have a player or early termination option at their disposal ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
Plan your Damian Lillard-Anthony Davis pipe dreams accordingly.
