Does Ben Simmons, the consensus top prospect in this year’s NBA draft, know something we don’t?
Strike that.
Does Ben Simmons know something we already suspect to be true?
Though the Philadelphia 76ers have a ton of frontcourt players on their books—Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Dario Saric—most are operating under the assumption they’ll take him with the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s prospect pageant.
Consider the latest update from Calkins Media’s Tom Moore:
Just that Sixers leaning toward him. RT @BMoonan: Derek Bodner has several Sixers sources telling him they'll draft Simmons. Heard anything?

To that end, Ben Simmons posted a couple of photos on his Facebook page that show him working out in the pool. His caption, per Max Rappaport of Liberty Ballers?
Trust the process, naturally:

Simmons would soon edit the caption:

So does this mean what we think it means?
Probably not.
But it doesn’t really matter.
Brandon Ingram fills a void for the Sixers, but Simmons is considered to be the more transcendent player. So while he may not already know that they’re drafting him this summer, he, like the rest of us, probably understands it’s a distinct inevitably.
Which, in turn, makes his initial word choice a subconscious harbinger of his acceptance of his fate.
Right?
