Hornets Campaign to Help Kemba Walker Win Most Improved

As we all know election season is upon us, that means campaign signs, heated social media debates, and lots of kissing babies.

The Charlotte Hornets and Kemba Walker decided to exhibit their campaign spirit and have launched a faux campaign for Walker to win the NBA Most Improved Player Award for the 2015-16 season.

A mock campaign ad promoting the slogan “Win with Walker in 2016” was released by the Hornets. It features Walker on the campaign trail and testimonials from numerous players including Marvin Williams, Al Jefferson as the owner of a paint factory, Jeremy Lin as the owner of a merchandise stand, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist as a security guard and Nicolas Batum with a fake Eiffel Tower background behind him.

Although this is extremely silly and more than likely won’t do a thing to sway the media and front office members who vote on the award, it is still a fun and creative idea by the Hornets marketing team and gets a thumbs up in my book.

Kemba Walker has improved dramatically this season increasing his scoring and player efficiency rating by four points and raised his shooting percentages across the board.

He is currently averaging 21-5-4 and shooting 84%-43%-37% from the field.

He is worthy of consideration for the award, but it appears as though C.J. McCollum and Steph Curry (no that is not a misprint) are the favorites to win the award.
