Today, in case you haven’t heard, is the 10 year anniversary of the launch of Twitter. Believe it or not there was a time when things such as mentions, hashtags, re-tweets and the always entertaining “Sliding in her DMs” weren’t a part of the cultural lexicon. A time where people didn’t have access to athletes, their personal lives or their daily thoughts.
To commemorate the special day, I thought it would be fun to share some NBA player’s first tweets, from the funny to the braggy to the inspirational and the completely random.
Enjoy!

There you have it folks the twitter debut for some of the NBA’s most legendary and high profile players and coaches. Although I enjoy Karl Anthony Towns smooth, laid back approach to twitter and Russell living his life in all caps on and off the court, Kawhi Leonard wins the twitter war for me. How many people’s first tweet is sharing a moment with the POTUS in the White House? Well done Kawhi the social media world salutes you.
