Knicks Veterans Want Kurt Rambis to Give Younger Players More Minutes

Rambis knicks
We have reached peak Kurt Rambis in New York.

With the Knicks’ playoff hopes long since dashed, even if they were just recently mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, it would stand to reason that head coach Kurt Rambis would throw more minutes to the team’s youngsters. Not just Kristaps Porzingis, either. Jerian Grant. Langston Galloway. Kyle O’Quinn. Give those guys burn during the pointless games. See what you have in them. Protect your vets from injuring themselves during a stretch of utter futility.

It’s a simple concept really, but one Rambis has failed to grasp. That, or he’s completely ignored it thus far.

There will be no ignoring it anymore, though.

Per Knicks.com’s Jonah Ballow:

Good for Robin Lopez, Carmelo Anthony and Jose Calderon. Seriously. If we’re to believe the Knicks’ timeline, they want to contend sometime in the near future, and Anthony remains a big part of what they’re doing. Why risk injuring him during games that don’t matter? Same goes for Lopez and even Calderon.

Rambis has six games left to prioritize the health of his old heads and the development of the team’s kiddies over winning meaningless games. Let’s see if he obliges the smart requests of Melo, RoLo and Jose.
