Despite being the top seed in the East for just about the entire season, all is not well in Cleveland. From a fired coach to reported turmoil, the rollercoaster-ish season continues.
Reports out of Cleveland now suggest that Cavs players are tired of Kyrie Irving’s selfish play. The gripe is that he shoots too much for being the lead distributor. You can certainly make an argument that Kyrie doesn’t share the rock enough, but what PG does in today’s NBA? Not many. The league has been PG-dominant for quite some time now and that’s not because of assists. It’s because of scoring. Let’s not forget that Steph Curry is a PG and is leading the league in scoring, but we’re all fine with that.
Players are growing tired of Irving’s inability to not only register a proper amount of assists at the lead guard position, but also to just move the ball. […] Did Irving pass more than once? Of course, but only when he was forced to do so. At one point in the second quarter, he dribbled relentlessly for 24 seconds and went nowhere. Dallas’ Chandler Parsons stayed in front of him and let him do all that fancy dribbling in one spot. Irving ended up settling for a tough mid-range jumper that clanked off the rim.
