When Phil Jackson hired Derek Fisher as head coach, he had to have realized that the roster was a mess and that Fisher had zero coaching experience. Right? Given all of that, you’d like Jackson would allow the roster to take shape a little more before doing something irrational like removing Fisher. But, no.
Jackson has relieved Fisher of his coaching duties and Kurt Rambis will take over. I mean, seriously. What were the expectations here? A championship this season?
The New York Knicks fired head coach Derek Fisher on Monday, just days before the NBA All-Star break.
Fisher had a 40-96 record in his second season with the Knicks. New York currently is 23-31and out of the Eastern Conference playoff picture. The Knicks promoted Kurt Rambis to interim coach.
