According to ESPN NBA Reporter Chris Broussard, the Heat may be the favorite to land Joe Johnson.

With the injury to Tyler Johnson and Dwyane Wade’s need to limit minutes and have periodic rest, the Heat are in dire need of a combo guard that could play alongside Wade or Goran Dragic and provide meaningful minutes off the bench.
With Chris Bosh’s status for the rest of the season up in the air, the Heat could use Joe Johnson’s scoring ability as they are already 28th in scoring in the league and have to search even harder for easy offense without Bosh.
Because of luxury tax implications, the Heat would have to wait until March 10 for to sign unless they were willing to waive someone from their roster.
It will be interesting to see if Johnson would wait until the 10th to sign with the Heat or whether another contender like the Cavaliers or Thunder would convince him to sign before then.
Although it is true the Heat may offer Johnson his best chance to earn big minutes and responsibility, it wouldn’t be his best opportunity to compete for a title.
