Will Barton, the Denver Nuggets sixth man extraordinaire and my personal current selection for sixth man of the year, continued his breakout season Sunday in Denver’s 130-125 loss at home to Pelicans.
Barton had a career high 32 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, becoming only the fifth player in the past 30 seasons to have a 30-10-5 game off of the bench.
You may recognize the other four names:
Charles Barkley
Clyde Drexler
Kevin McHale
Detlef Schrempf
That list includes three hall of famers and one former sixth man of the year (it was a shame he never made an all-star game) in Detlef Schrempf.
Barton should continue to have a great season and stake his claim for some NBA hardware. Not bad for a former second round pick.
