For the Nike Kyrie 1 ‘Driveway’, the backstory goes that as basketball season started and it started to get dark earlier during the fall/winter nights in New Jersey, Kyrie’s dad (one of my favorite people in the state cause he was around when mine & Kyrie’s high school teams played each other) would park his car at the top of their driveway and cut the headlights on for an hour. That extra 60 minutes of illumination clearly went a long way to hone the skills of a young Kyrie.
Dressed in all black like the omen, the Hyperfuse upper has Green Glow on the KI tongue branding & mesh backing (most prominently seen in the ankle cushioning unit). The flashiest feature of the ‘Driveway’ Kyrie 1 is the Swoosh branding which literally reflects direct like from something like a camera flash.
We all got our first look at this Kyrie 1 colorway via NBA photographer extraordinaire Cassy Athena who snapped Irving wearing these at Team USA camp in Las Vegas in mid-August.
The ‘Driveway’ Nike Kyrie 1 releases on Wednesday, September 16th for $110.
