Nuggets Trade JaVale McGee to Sixers

mcgeesixersWhenever the Sixers all get on the court healthy and as a full unit, they will have one of the longest frontcourts in the game. They already have Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid, who hasn’t played yet, and they just added JaVale McGee.

It remains to be seen if they plan on unloading McGee for financial reasons. If not, that front court will be interesting.

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to send JaVale McGee and a first-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The Sixers will receive a 2015 protected first-round pick that Denver owned via Oklahoma City and are sending the rights to Turkish professional player Cenk Akyol to the Nuggets.

In Denver’s two deals today, it has created $18 million in player-trade exceptions.

Denver is unloading the balance of $11.3 million for this season and $12 million for 2015-16 on McGee’s contract.

On the heels of announcing not only new uniforms, but also a new slogan for next year that their time is now, it looks like the Sixers are making moves to balance their youth with some experience.
