Despite several teams—Cavs, Grizzlies, Clippers, Warriors, Spurs, Bulls, Wizards—interested in acquiring his services, free agent guard and two-time NBA champion Ray Allen may not make a return for the current season as he’s said to be leaning towards retirement, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who was recently interviewed on ESPN1540 radio in Cleveland.
Windhorst: "I have now heard that Ray Allen is leaning towards retiring."

Even at his age of 39, Allen can still prove to be such a deadly shooter from long-range, an asset that a lot of teams would want to acquire as we head towards the all-star break in less than two months. Throughout his 18-year career, he’s averaged 18.9 points per contest while shooting at a very respectable 40% from beyond the arc.
Allen looks like he’s really enjoying the free agent life so far, especially being able to spend more time with his family. But the possibility of him returning is certainly still there as he hasn’t send definitively he’s retiring and a lot of teams will continue to seek his assistance until a final verdict.
For now, Allen is keeping his options wide open for as long as he can, before he ultimately decides to return or retire from the game of basketball. And if he does decide to retire though, he’ll surely end up in the Hall of Fame, as he’s currently the greatest outside shooter of all-time. Numbers don’t lie.
