Pacers C Ian Mahinmi Out 6-8 Weeks With Foot Injury

mahinmilHere we go again with the injuries for the Indiana Pacers. Their backup center Ian Mahinmi is the latest player in their roster to join the injury list. Last Saturday night, he injured his left foot during the first half of their game versus the Sacramento Kings.

But On Sunday night, the team announced that he had suffered a torn plantar fascia and will be sidelined 6-8 weeks.

Mahinmi, 28, has been averaging decent numbers with 4.8 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting above 60% from the field in the first 20 games of the season.

This is just brutal for the Pacers, who have been and are still dealing with injuries already this season. We all know Paul George will likely not be playing the entire season, while other key players such as David West, C.J. Watson, C.J Miles and Roy Hibbert missed several games with their own respective injuries.

With Mahinmi sidelined for at least two months, Hibbert will have to fill in the void and play at a more efficient level to keep the Pacers in contention for a playoff spot. They’re currently 11th in the eastern conference with a 7-13 record, which is not surprising at all considering their depleted roster.

Needless to say, the Pacers will need all the help they can if they want to keep their hopes alive this season.
