How annoying is it when you use your Apple TV, computer, or tablet to view shows or games from a streaming service only to be asked for your TV provider login credentials. That sort of defeats the purpose. Aside from the mobility of streaming, many people these days see the point as being able to cancel their TV subscriptions and simply pay for internet service. It’s the wave of the future. And it looks like ESPN is getting on board. A report from the Engadget (by way of WSJ), is reporting that the new deal between Disney and the NBA will allow uninhibited streaming of regular season games….
According to sources for the Wall Street Journal, the NBA has signed a pact with Disney (ESPN’s parent) to launch a new streaming service that doesn’t demand a cable or satellite subscription — a big deal for ESPN, which still makes most of its money from paid TV. Just how it differs from the NBA’s own League Pass isn’t clear, although both are focused on live regular season games.
However this will only cover regular season games. When will the networks that have the playoff rights jump on board. Don’t forget what happened to the dinosaurs fellas. Don’t be late to the party.
