In the wake of Paul George’s injury, the last thing Team USA can was hoping for is another injury. Especially during a scrimmage. Well, during today’s scrimmage, DeMarcus Cousins went down with a knee injury. He was able to walk off under his own power and it isn’t expected to be too serious, but nobody wants to hear this type of news.
USA Basketball is down another big man.
DeMarcus Cousins injured his right knee during Thursday’s workout when Anthony Davis landed on him as the two dove for a loose ball.
The Sacramento Kings big man was able to put weight on his leg and take a few steps about a half hour after getting hurt, and managing director Jerry Colangelo said he’s hopeful the injury is only a bruise or sprain.
Even so, Colangelo said he doesn’t expect Cousins to play Saturday when the U.S. faces Brazil at the United Center.
