Everybody has an opinion on what Carmlo Anthony should do this summer. Should be stay or should he go? There are great arguments for both sides. Staying would mean he’s willing to see Phil Jackson’s plan to the end. Leaving would mean he could join a team that’s on the cusp of winning a championship and there are plenty of those.
But if you were to ask Oscar Robertson (who typically comes across as bitter for some reason), he thinks Melo should leave as soon as he can. The Big O was on Spike Lee’s SiriusXM show and had this to share:
“I would leave today. … Let me tell you why. Wherever that kid has gone, when he was at Denver, they had a team that fooled around with the ball, fooled around with the ball, then all of the sudden when they needed a basket, threw it to Carmelo. Then, when he shot the ball, they said he shot too much. Then when he didn’t shoot they said he didn’t shoot enough. No matter what he does in New York they’re going to criticize him, the people are going to criticize him, because you got guys on that team (the Knicks) that cannot play. You got guys that are hurt all the time…”
