2004 seems like forever ago. That was when the Detroit Pistons were NBA Champs, and durnig a time where they made four consecutive Eastern Conference Finals. The architect behind all of that was Joe Dumars, but my how things have changed.
Dumars has fallen out of the good graces of fans it seems, as many are calling for his job. Because of this, there have been rumors that Isiah Thomas would take over a front office role with the team. However, the teams has shot down any such rumors.
A spokesman for Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores called a report that the team is wooing Isiah Thomas as its next general manager “absolutely false.”
“He is not a candidate for any job with the Pistons,” Barnhill wrote about Thomas.
Mark Barnhill, a partner in Gores’ Platinum Equity, wrote in an email to MLive that he and Gores had dinner with Thomas a couple weeks ago in Los Angeles but the upcoming Bad Boys reunion “was the sole topic. Period.”
