The Nets brought Jason Collins in for a workout during all-star weekend and subsequently signed him to a 10-day contract Sunday morning. Sunday night, he was with the team as they played the Lakers in Staples Center. During the second quarter, he checked in with about 10 minutes remaining and made history. 35-year-old Jason Collins became the first openly gay player to play a game in one of the four major North American sports on Sunday night. He was also welcomed by a nice ovation from the Laker crowd. Big moment in sports.
