If you’re old enough, you’ll remember the old MTV “Rock and Jock” annual celebrity basketball games where they had spots on the floor good enough for a 10-point basket. Could something like that be coming to the NBA? Close.
The league has reportedly discussed adding a 4-point shot to the game. It makes sense when you consider the fact that some guys shoot 3s comfortably from well behind the arc. But just because something makes sense doesn’t mean it should happen. Let’s hope not, anyway.
NBA president of basketball operations Rob Thorn told ESPN in an interview that the 4-pointer has “come up” in league discussions.
“Oh man,” Thorn said, “some of the players we have can shoot the ball 30 feet as easily as they can shoot 23, 24 feet.”
