For the first time in what seems like an eternity, there’s been a sense of normalcy within the Knicks organization. What transpired under Isiah Thomas’ watch is a distant memory now and there’s no more musical chairs with the coaches.
In fairness to Isiah however, D’Antoni wasn’t under his watch and he failed too. But managament has faith in Mike Woodson. The Knicks won their division for the first time in nearly two decades last season and coach Woodson is being rewarded for that.
Mills, who replaced Glen Grunwald on Thursday, made his first major decision Monday. He elected to pick up the option on Woodson’s contract for the 2014-15 season, a move that gives Woodson more stability in the organization.
The team’s announcement came just an hour before the team’s annual media day at its training facility here.
Woodson said he was grateful that he had done enough to earn the trust of Mills and the team’s owner, James L. Dolan.
