Kobe to Skip 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup

The FIBA World Championships aren’t until next Summer, but don’t expect to see Kobe Bryant on that roster. Sure, his Achilles will be fully healed by then, but he’ll still sit out.

This shouldn’t be much of a surprise given his age and recent injury. He’s at the point where every activity for his body needs to be for the Los Angeles Lakers. Also, I have a funny feeling, alot of household names will sit this one out too.

FIVE-TIME National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Kobe Bryant will no longer play for the US team in next year’s International Basketball Federation (Fiba) World Cup in Madrid, Spain.

“I love competing but I will let the young guys play and represent the country,” said Bryant, who donned the Team USA jersey in the Fiba Americas Championship in 2007, on Monday during an event promoting the latest Lenovo mobile phones at the Passion Restaurant at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.
