This new age of the NBA is one where former players have been mentoring the young bucks. Hakeem Olajuwon has been working on low post moves with current players so much that the Rockets officially hired him to do so with Dwight Howard.
John Wall, fresh off of a max contract extension with the Wizards, will be working out with Gary Payton.
I’m not sure how this will go because Payton and Wall’s games don’t exactly mirror one another. GP was shoot first, while Wall is a willing passer. Either way, this can only be good for Wall.
Wall still plans to hook up with Gary Payton, a Hall of Fame point guard who was one of the best of his generation, in Seattle before returning to train with the Wizards on Aug. 20. Plus, he had ample time to watch the nuances of Tony Parker as he led the San Antonio Spurs to the NBA finals and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Mike Conley, who helped his team advance to the Western Conference finals.
