It’s looking more and more like there is truth to the rumor that the LA Lakers will use their amnesty clause provision to cut Metta World Peace from the team, and save approximately $30 Million against the cap. News first started to break last night when Kevin Ding of the OC Register tweeted this:
Sweet a guy as he is, @MettaWorldPeace will be waived via amnesty by Lakers to save about $30 million, barring some late change.

Then later in the evening Kobe Bryant took to twitter to voice his feelings about the news the Lakers were cutting Artest:
No game 7 win without Metta! This is a tough day for laker nation #misspeace #newcbacasualty
— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) July 9, 2013
The interesting thing about Kobe is that a month ago people were talking about whether or not the Lakers should use the amnesty provision on him, not World Peace. Instead the Lakers decided to stay loyal to Bryant and trust in his word that he is going to return from rehab on his torn achilles tendon, better than ever. So if there is one guy that can empathize with World Peace’s situation it may be Kobe Bryant.
Only time will tell if the Lakers made the right choice in choosing a near retirement, rehabbing Kobe Bryant, over a healthy Metta World Peace. But in the meantime, where will World Peace land? Now that he’s been released he can afford to sign for cheap. Maybe back to his old stomping grounds?
