The Los Angeles Clippers came out of the gate firing on all cylinders in their 1st round match-up with the Memphis Grizzlies, but now find themselves down 3-2 after last night’s 103-93 loss at home. Not to take anything away from the Grizzlies, but a big reason the Clippers came up short was because of Blake Griffin and his shaky ankle.
Griffin only played 19 minutes due to a high ankle sprain, that occurred during practice a few nights prior, and wasn’t much of a factor. This injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Clippers. It’s bad enough that they don’t have many guys who can create for themselves, now their best big man is limited.
The three-time All-Star was limited to 19 1/2 minutes in the Clippers’ 103-93 loss Tuesday night because of a high ankle sprain. The injury occurred when he was taking part in post drills during Monday’s practice and stepped on Lamar Odom’s foot.
“I kept being optimistic,” said Griffin, who finished with four points, five rebounds and five assists. “Our training staff did a great job giving me treatment. I’ve never had a high ankle sprain before.”
