Top 5 NCAA Dunks of the Week: December 10, 2012

  • The 2012-2013 NCAA season has kicked off with a bang as Indiana, Michigan, and Duke have stormed out to impressive starts.

Along with some tremendous team starts, we have been treated to some pretty sweet individual performances as star players like Indiana’s Cody Zeller, Duke’s Mason Plumlee, and Creighton’s Doug McDermott have been spectacular.

But what about the dunks?  Everyone loves the dunks.  It’s been a while since we’ve showcased the top collegiate jams across the land.

So without further ado, here are the Top 5 NCAA Dunks of the Week for early December (not including the Daniel Skinner FT dunk as it was ruled a charge)….

  • University of Minnesota junior forward has been on the NBA’s radar for a few seasons now as he is one of the most athletic players in the nation.  With the Golden Gophers getting out to a tremendous start, ranked among the Top 25 teams in the country, most of the attention has been on Austin and Andre Hollins, and the returning Trevor Mbakwe, Williams decided to make SportCenter’s top plays on his own…..

  • With last year’s NCAA POY runner up Thomas Robinson and senior PG Tyshawn Taylor now off to the NBA ranks, coach Bill Self expects alot out of his senior trio Jeff Withey, Elijah Johnson, and Travis Relaford.  All three have stepped their game up as Kansas is once again a Top 10 ranked squad and the favorites to win yet another Big 12 Championship.  In a recent game against conference upstarts Colorado, Relaford decided to posterize, then stare down a Buffs opponent on his path tho the rim….

  • Many have compared University of Kentucky freshman Archie Goodwin to NBA great Russell Westbrook because of some insane athleticism from the guard position.  Although Kentucky has already lost more games than all of last season, Goodwin has one of the bright spots, leading the team in scoring and highlight reel dunks….

  • While he may not yet be a household name, North Texas’ Tony Mitchell soon will be as potentially one of the Top 10 picks in the 2013 NBA Draft.  The 6’8 and 230lb forward has an amazing skill-set that has NBA GM’s drooling.  It also helps that he can straight jump out of the gym and clear over opposing defenders…

  • One of the primary reasons that the Indiana Hoosiers are the #1 ranked team in the nation is the outstanding all around play of swingman Victor Oladipo.  Many have begun calling him “Home Depot” because he’s got more tools to his game than they’ve got on the shelves.  The junior guard seems to play with an extra gear than most other players on the court and can be a lock-down defender when need be.  That is when he’s not serving up a facial dunk on anyone trying to block his shot at the rim…
