Ever since former 5 time NBA All Star Chris Webber became a member of the media on either NBA TV or TNT, he’s kind of been the guy in the shadows of Chuck, Kenny, Ernie, D-Scott, and even Brent Barry on national telecasts.
He sort of became the odd man out on the TNT staff once future Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal was added to the Inside the NBA crew, as we now see him pop up mostly as an expert analyst on NBA TV along with Steve Smith.
I always thought that C-Webb gave a sometimes alternate or non-politically correct view on topics from a player’s perspective but his recent rant on NBA TV concerning the LA Lakers recent hire of Mike D;Antoni over Phil Jackson was entertaining to say the least.
Webber brings up valid points about D’Antoni quitting on the Knicks halfway through last season before resurfacing as an assistant under Coach K on the Team USA staff this past Summer. No doubt the move had something to do with D’Antoni’s success with Steve Nash running the pick-and-roll to perfection back in Phoenix.
I at least give him credit for being one of the few analysts to tell it like it is regardless of the popular opinion…..
