Once one of the top players in the NBA, Tracy McGrady has to now fight for a spot on a team. After finishing his one-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks, McGrady went overseas to China to play in the CBA and signed with the Qingdao Eagles. Further embracing his current Far East location, he has already stared in Chinese beer commercials and, most recently, signed an endorsement deal with a new sneaker company over there as well.
In a familiar move, McGrady has been seen practicing in a pair of new, unknown sneakers. After practicing in a pair with his face literally on the upper and all branding covered, T-Mac later went on to an announcement-type ceremony where he was presented with a pair in a glass case by staff members of the unnamed sneaker company.
From what I’ve seen, there are multiple pairs with McGrady’s likeness on kicks, one with him in an Orlando Magic gear and another in a Houston Rockets jersey. Another thing is that he is still wearing adidas socks so maybe he hasn’t fully ditched his “lifetime” contract with the Stripes just yet.
A few weeks ago during my Dwyane Wade interview the question was brought up about other players signing overseas sneaker endorsements so is this a new trend? Let us know what you think in the comment box below.
