It’s been well written about Allen Iverson’s never ending quest to make a return to the NBA, a journey that has now taken him halfway around the globe to China.
After first taking his talents to Europe to play for Turkish team Beskitas in 2010, it was announced in early September that the now 36 yr-old Iverson had signed on to join the Ball Up Tour for a series of exhibition games pitting the US vs China sometime in October.
In his first live game action overseas in more than a year, A.I. laced them up alongside former NBA and NCAA players like JR Reid, Scott Burrell, and former Heat sharpshooter Damon Jones. Allen once teamed up with All Star caliber players like Dikembe Mutombo, Chris Webber, and Carmelo Anthony. Oh how the mighty have fallen…..
While A.I.’s squad got the best of the reigning Chinese Basketball League Champion Beijing Ducks 132-103, it was the rare occasions where former NBA stars Iverson and Stephon Marbury squared off that made the game worth watching.
At press time, individual game stats weren’t readily available but surely Marbury must hope that the recent rumors that A.I. might be signing with a team in Isreal are true as Iverson showed he still has that devastating killer crossover, breaking the ankles of Starbury’s teammates on multiple occasions during the game…
