Earlier this week it was reported that Andrei Kirilenko was ready to leave Russia and once again play in the NBA. After being plagued by injuries in his last few seasons in Utah, many consider ‘AK-47’ to be a has been in the league.
After receiving major offers from the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves, the TWolves won out with the bigger financial incentives at $20 million over two years.
Although the deal hasn’t been officially announced, the agreement has been widely reported, and has many scratching their heads at the large sum of money for a player that didn’t even play in the NBA last year.
When you couple this signing with the recent Wolves signing of Brandon Roy, you get the feeling the Wolves will either look like geniuses or fools come the midway point of the season. Both are risky moves given their past injury woes, but both have tremendous upside if they stay healthy and return to form.
Minnesota is finalizing a two-year, $20 million contract with free agent forward Andrei Kirilenko, league sources tell Y! Sports.
