Stan Van Gundy being fired last week shouldn’t have come as a shock to anyone. His last days in Orlando were certainly forgettable. But what has gotten lost in all of this is that SVG is actually a pretty good coach. He’s fiery and passionate, which are essential. We’re sure he’ll find another coaching gig, but it won’t be next year.
Even though Charlotte wants to talk to him about its coaching vacancy, Stan Van Gundy is looking to take the year off and then come back to coach in 2013-14. His preference is to work in a warm-weather city for a contender
