Thomas Robinson Notches First 30-20 Game at Kansas Since 1961

While Taylor has steadily increased his production as a senior leader, it has been the breakout performance of future NBA Lottery pick Thomas Robinson, as the real catalyst behind the Jayhawks impressive 10-3 start.

The 6’9 and 240 lb forward has flat out been a beast in the painted area (just ask the Duke Blue Devils), leading the Big 12 in double-doubles while averaging 18 points, 12 rebounds, and shooting a lofty 53% from the field. He has scored in double digits in every game but one and has grabbed at least 7 boards in every contest this season, including 9 games of 10 rebounds or better.

Robinson has proven to be a physical low post player, continually imposing his will on opposing bigs. He along with Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger, are arguably the most NBA ready big men in the college game and will undoubtedly hear their names called very early in the upcoming 2012 NBA Draft.

But what he accomplished in a non-conference tilt against North Dakota, turned out to be historic, as he notched 30 points and 21 rebounds, becoming the first University of Kansas player since 1961 to tally a 30-20 game.

North Dakota could do little to contain the ferocious Robinson, who even drained his first 3 pointer of the season in a winning cause, leading the Jayhawks to a 84-58 victory.
