It appears that the basketball player formally known as Ron Artest is up to his antics once again. At a recent shoot around for the Los Angeles Lakers, Metta World Peace expressed his intentions to sign a professional boxing contract with Floyd Mayweather’s promotion company. So, let’s take a look at the recent time line for Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers. Lamar Odom is traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Chris Paul ends up landing with the Clippers, Kobe’s wife files for divorce, Kobe injures his wrist, and now Kobe has to deal with the antics of Metta World Peace. Releasing a hip hop record is one thing Ron, but creating another distraction for your team that is already in Limbo heading into Christmas Day is another thing. Besides there are two main arguments that can be brought to everyone’s attention here.
1. Isn’t boxing kind of contradicting what your name stands for? World Peace?
2. Ron’s fighting technique during the “Malice at the Palace” wasn’t too great. Let alone he was hitting innocent bystanders. Keep that guard up next time Ronnie.
So, what is going to come next for Ron Ron? Run for President? Develop the flying car? Produce a movie for the Hallmark channel? Who Knows?
If he ever does hop in the ring, let’s just hope “Metta” remembers that he is suppose to be fighting the opponent in the ring and not the spectators.
