Nike LeBron 9 – ‘Dunkman’ & ‘Griffey’

December 29, 2011 – Ben Berry

With the colorway could already in the double digits, the LeBron 9 will be to 2012 what the Zoom Kobe VI was to 2011 if this pace continues. Here we see two new pairs weeks, possibly months, before a scheduled release date.

Nike LeBron 9 – “Dunkman”

The Dunkman colorway has become a staple in the signature sneaker series for LeBron James since the Zoom LeBron 2 was the first to put an official name on the color combination. No sneaker given the Dunkman name would be complete without bright green and the ‘Dunkman’ LeBron 9 is no different.

An Electric Green sole with exposed Max Air 190 sits below a black speckled midsole. Black is seen on the majority of the sneaker being used in the mesh and Flywire harness. This pair very lowkey compared to the last few Dunkman installments and is outright bland when looking at the Dunkman LeBron 8 PS from last year.

Nike LeBron 9 – “Griffey”

When pictures of this sneaker first hit the internet, many believed this to be the All-Star edition because of the blue hue. However the Dunkman logo mixed with the Swing graphic used on Ken Griffey’s signature line with Nike leads me to believe this is part of the LeBron James Heroes Pack which began two sneakers ago with the LeBron 7.

A Clearwater-esque color is used on most of the ‘Griffey’ LeBron 9 with white countering the mainly dark color seen on the sneaker. The red seen on the signature on the tongue, heel tab, and lace tips could be in tribute to the time The Kid spent in a Cincinnati Red’s uniform.
