Just last week, we told you that Deron Williams’ agent said his client would not remain with the Nets once his contract is up. Apparently, he didn’t speak to Deron about that because yesterday Williams said there’s a 90% chance he will in fact stay.
New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams may be opting out of his contract at the end of the 2011-12 season, but no need to worry. Williams doesn’t plan on leaving.
“My plan is to stay,” Williams said during an interview with WFAN radio Monday. “Hopefully we get some good talent in here to where I can stay.”
Williams estimated that his chances of staying are “90 percent.”
Williams seemed to dispel any rumors of joining Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire with the New York Knicks.
“That would be very unlikely,” Williams said.
