With the NBA owners and players still in an all out war, with the next battle ground looking to be the court system, owners are being extra careful to follow the rules. That even applies to New Jersey Nets minority owner and hip hop mogul Jay-Z.
Having likely been briefed in advance by someone in the NBA offices after seeing his name on the ballot beside NBA Stars Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, and Andre Iguodala for the GQ “Men of the Year” Awards, Jay-Z gave his security detail explicit instructions not to let any NBA players near him at the event. Atta boy Jigga, don’t be fraternizing with the employees:
“So all the athletes were clamoring to talk to Jay-Z in his private section, even Melo, but because of the lockout, Jay had to turn them all down. He refused to let any of them thru, and also warned his security to watch out because of his NBA ownership, he wasn’t allowed to fraternize with them,” said our source. (Via Terez Owens)
