LeBron 9 To Be Made Available On Nike iD

October 3, 2011 – Ben Berry

When NBA players with sneaker deals drop their latest signature shoe consumers, for the most part, can predict the first few colorways that will be released. A two-or-three color combination of their team colors and a mostly white pair with their team colors paneled make up the first colorways to be seen in stores since those players will be wearing those same sneakers at the start of the season. With league play at a halt in the US and the LeBron 9 not having the same immediate acclaim that his last two signatures had, sneakerheads were calling out to see new colorways of this shoe before they made their final decision. In a stroke of genius that I hope starts a trend for Nike, we learn that the LeBron 9 will be included in the slew of sneakers available for consumer design from NikeiD.

For the first time ever a LeBron James signature shoe will be available for personalization through the Nike iD program. One of the things I am most looking forward to is the Flywire mesh and overlay color combinations and what colors will come from the customization for these two when fused together. Amongst those two features, other options available for customization are the color of the laces, 180 Air unit, and two personalized iD markings (one on the inside of the tongue up to five characters and on the back of the shoe up to two numbers). The last option just increases the chances of seeing custom colorways show up on college courts this winter so look out for that.

The LeBron 9 hits store shelves on October 9th while the NikeiD LeBron will be available two weeks later for personalization on October 25th.
