SNL Spoofs NCAA Selection Sunday

March 16, 2011 – Allen Moll

For those of you that are still fans of the legendary comedic skit show “Saturday Night Live”, you may have already seen this parody but it deserves mention anyway because it’s hilarious and we all need a little break and humor after studying and making our picks for this year’s 2011 NCAA Tournament.

While it’s been argued over and over again the fact that the NCAA Selection Committee may have made some mistakes in selecting the 68 teams for this year’s Tourney, SNL decided to go in another route by revealing the brackets to utimately determine Worldwide Madness, or quite frankly find out who is the most insane person on the planet.

They broke it down into individual brackets like the North Africa Division featuring Libya’s President Gaddafi and Dictator Mubarak, the Hollywood Division featuring Nicholas Cage and my favorite Charlie Sheen, and the Washington D.C. Bracket with the likes of Glen Beck and Keith Olbermann.

Those who haven’t seen the show in a while won’t see the likes of Will Ferrell, Tracy Morgan, or Jimmy Fallon anymore but SNL’s newest cast and crew did a bang-up job impersonating the likes of Greg Gumbel, Dick Vitale, and Jim Nantz, and their impersonation of everyone’s favorite crazy man Charlie Sheen in the final segment takes the cake.

Check out SNL’s spoof of Selection Sunday and be sure to download the TheHoopDoctors 2011 NCAA Printable Bracket.
