Jimmer Fredette, Kemba Walker and Nolan Smith are arguably the three best college basketball players in the country this season. It is nearly a guarantee one of them will be winning the Naismith National Player of the Year Award.
Kemba Walker has suddenly became a household name after his jaw dropping performance in the Big East tournament last week. Walker led the Huskies to five victories in five night en route to the tournament championship. Four of Connecticut’s five victories were against ranked opponents. In addition, Walker broke the tournament scoring record in the process. After Kemba’s performance in the tournament, there is serious buzz about Connecticut making a run at the national championship.
Nolan Smith was the only unanimous decision for All ACC First Team this season. Also, he was a member of the conference’s All-Defensive Team. Smith poured in 20 points and dished out ten assists in Duke’s victory over North Carolina in the ACC tournament championship game. By winning the tournament, Duke claimed one of the four number one seeds in this year’s tournament.
Jimmer Fredette has had one of the greatest individual seasons in recent memory. Jimmer is averaging a nation best 28 points per game this season, and he has had games with 52, 47 and 43 points.
Sunday evening, ESPN’s Rece Davis had a chance to chat with all three of the players.
