Rudy Gay Holds In-Game Dunk Contest Vs. Wolves

November 1, 2010 – Allen Moll

While it’s been proven that it’s no great accomplishment to have a great game against the always disappointing Minnesota Timberwolves, Rudy Gay took matters into his own hands by serving up not 1, but 2 highlight reel dunks worthy of the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest caliber. The first jam was assisted by point guard Mike Conley, who served up the perfect alley-oop to Rudy for a one-handed throwdown while the second come on a Gay double-pump reverse dunk.

Rudy also scored 25 points, finishing second to teammate OJ Mayo, who coincidentally ranks #9 on our Top 10 NBA Players Under Age 23 Rankings for 2010.

The Memphis Grizzlies have started the season off on a winning note, nabbing victories in 2 of their first 3 contests. Amazingly, the last time they have accomplished this feat was back in the ’05-’06 season, which was the last time they made the Playoffs. Just sayin.

Rudy Gay is off to a good start to the season by ranking in the Top 20 in scoring at more than 22.3 ppg, to go along with 8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest. Surely team management is pleased with his production after awarding Rudy with a big payday this off-season, when he nabbed a 5 year/ $82 millon deal that keeps him in Memphis through the ’15-’16 season.
