Pepperdine’s Keion Bell Can Dunk Over 7 People

October 21, 2010 – Allen Moll

Pepperdine University’s rising junior Keion Bell is quietly one of the most athletic and high flying point guards in the country. Ever since high school, he was turning heads back in Pasadena, California with his highlight reel dunks. If it wasn’t for a transfer violation in his junior HS year scaring some top tier schools away, we very well may have been talking about Bell in the same circles as current NBA superstars Derrick Rose and John Wall today.

But don’t fret for Bell, as he has become one of the best players in the entire West Coast Conference by leading the Waves in scoring(18.5 ppg), assists(3.2 ast), and steals(1.3), despite suffering through 2 straight miserable seasons(9-23 and 7-24 last season). In fact, Bell has begun to garner some attention from NBA scouts as he stands a decent chance of one day playing basketball on the highest level.

Like most other collegiate campuses this time of year, Pepperdine held their version of Midnight Madness recently, with the highlight being the annual Orange/Blue Dunk Contest, with of course Bell as the main attraction. Because of his amazing leaping ability, he has been deemed “The Human Catapult.”

Bell is no stranger to highlight reel plays as he once dunked over a 7 foot player in high school, which immediately brings back memories of Vince Carter’s jam over a 7 foot Frederick Weiss in the Olympics. Last year he amazingly dunked over 5 players on one attempt. Always trying to push the envelope, this time Bell may have gone too far.

Although he pushes off the first helper, he still leaps over 7 people, which un-officially is some sort of record.
